How we’re addressing sanctions, security threats, and supply chain disruptions

Entrust is carefully monitoring the events in Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine, and is concerned for the safety and well-being of our customers, partners, and employees in the region. The following is an update and FAQ on the impact of these events on our business in the region. We will continue to update this page as the situation evolves.

Compliance with international sanctions

Due to international sanctions against Russia and Belarus and on the advice of counsel, Russia and Belarus have been added to the list of countries with comprehensive sanctions (i.e., embargoed countries). This means Entrust is severely restricted from doing business of any kind with certain Russian and Belarussian entities and individuals, including providing software upgrades or downloads, technical support, service, or replacement parts on existing orders, until those sanctions are lifted.

Cybersecurity threats

Entrust continues to monitor and enhance our security posture relative to the potential for cyber spillover from the conflict. While many of these attacks may be targeted to the conflict, the potential for impact far beyond those engaged is expected. We are aware of intensified Russian state-sponsored attacks that include spear phishing, credential harvesting, brute force/password spray techniques, DDOS attacks, and known vulnerability exploitation against accounts and networks with weak security.

Entrust is responding by actively reviewing daily intelligence and updating our defenses based upon changing threats, increasing our security monitoring capabilities, continuing our secure SDLC process for our products, and hardening systems.

At this time, we are not aware of any risks directly related to the crisis nor do we utilize any services from Ukraine or Russia either directly or indirectly. We will continue to be vigilant as we continue to monitor the situation.

Impact on supply chain

Entrust currently is supplied with critical inventory and does not anticipate near-term shortages.

Looking at the technology market overall, Ukraine exports neon gas that is a key material for chip manufacturing, which could exacerbate ongoing chip shortages and impact costs. While we can’t anticipate the long-term impact of sanctions on Russia, the country is an exporter of energy, wheat, and other raw materials, and the closing of airspace to Russian planes could impact the air freight market.

FAQ

Please review the following FAQ for additional guidance on this situation.

Do the export sanctions include web services as well as shipping physical product to Russia and Belarus?

Yes. In addition to the ban on shipping physical products, these sanctions also ban software downloads, shipment of replacement parts, fulfillment of service requests, and technical assistance as all may be considered exports under applicable regulations.

Will Entrust fulfill orders pending or in process prior to the sanctions coming into place?

No. These orders are being canceled.

Can Entrust still provide remote support to customers in Russia and Belarus?

We are not able to provide support via calls, online chat or for ongoing cases as this support may constitute an export under applicable regulations.

How long will the sanctions last?

This situation is dynamic, and it is impossible to determine how sanctions will evolve or how long they will remain in place. Entrust is monitoring the situation closely and will respond to changes as needed to ensure we remain in compliance. At all times, Entrust business activities are governed by our Code of Ethics and related business conduct policies which can be found here.

Is Entrust using services from Russia or Belarus? Have you been affected by cyberattacks related to the conflict?

At this time, we are not aware of any risks directly related to the crisis nor does Entrust utilize any services from Ukraine or Russia either directly or indirectly. We will continue to be vigilant as we continue to monitor the situation.
